Turtle Island - A friend suggested I make a circle with browns, greens (mint through forest) and a touch of cream. This is how it turned out. I would have never chosen these colours but each piece grabs my eye, and as I spend time looking at the piece, I see something different.

Circle of Friends - 38” diameter, this piece was inspired by a photo of a friends Farmhouse.

In Remembrance of 215 souls - When I heard of the 215 children's bodies found in Kamloops my mind spun, I couldn’t help thinking of the generational impact of such a loss. I was filled with upset, and as a settler I felt hopeless and disturbed by my ancestors' actions. I thought what can I do? In tribute I made this piece, not to sell but to honor the 215 souls that left this earth long before their time at the hands of the Kamloops Indian Residential School. As I watched the news and read more on this horrific event I worked on this intuitive circle. I made this piece on June 3rd, in one day working from 7am to midnight with little break. As it grew I learned more of our history and sent thoughts to the children. Some materials used included the hem of a dress to remember the missing and murdered indigenous women, brown to symbolize earth, and pink tones to symbolize childhood. As a final touch to this grieving circle, I added a layered ring of 215 Rose Quartz beads, one for each child. Rose Quartz is the stone of universal love. It restores trust and harmony in relationships, encouraging unconditional love. I chose this stone because it purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, deep inner healing and feelings of peace. I cannot reverse what happened, but I will make sure to do my part in remembering and honoring the 215 children who did not return home.

Sunburst - I was not necessarily inspired by anything specific but instead I always attempt to try new things. This time I wrapped materials around the strings creating a unique look, that is why I called this piece ‘sunburst’, its role is to help discourage birds from hitting cottage windows.

Egg - This was one of my earlier pieces, Tammy Kanat’s work was my inspiration. This intuitive circle was made with yarn and it bent as I used a thinner copper. The circle on the inside is a thicker copper and a separate piece, which I felt fit perfectly with this larger piece. The yarn doesn’t stay uniform so the process took longer, but it was great to practice a new technique and create this ‘egg.’

Ocean - A very textural piece with iridescent plastic recycling bag incorporated to raise awareness about plastics in the ocean.

Windy Day Sunrise, Diameter 16.5 inches

This piece “water” was created when I was spending time alone at the cottage, reflecting on life. People usually love spending time alongside mountains, forest or water to rejuvenate. For me, it’s definitely water. I loved making this piece and it was the first time I chose to complete a piece with one colour pallet.

A happy client.
